Carmarthenshire Ten Towns Review
Carmarthenshire County Council is reviewing and updating the economic plans for ten of the county’s towns. We want to hear from people who live, work, run a business or regularly visit these towns.
Tell us what works well, what needs to improve and what should be prioritised in the future.
You can take part by completing the online survey or attending one of our local drop-in sessions during September.
About the review
In 2020, Carmarthenshire County Council developed a series of economic recovery plans in partnership with local communities across ten of the county’s rural market towns.
Six years on, the Council has commissioned PER Consulting and Lafan to review progress and update each plan, reflecting current challenges and local priorities for the future.
The feedback gathered will help shape realistic priorities and next steps for each town.
The ten towns are:

Whitland
Who can take part?
We would like to hear from you if you:
live or work in one of the ten towns;
run a business or provide local services;
visit the town for shopping, services or leisure;
represent an organisation, council, school or community group; or
have an interest in the town’s future.
You can contribute in Welsh or English.
Complete the survey
The survey asks about your experience of the town, including:
the town’s strengths;
what needs to improve;
the challenges facing the town;
your priorities for the future; and
ideas or actions that could make a difference.
Closing date: 11:59pm on the 30th of September, 2026.
Local drop-in sessions
We will be holding a drop-in session in each of the ten towns during September 2026.
There is no need to book. You can call in at any point during the session to:
speak to members of the project team;
share your experience of the town;
identify local issues or opportunities; and
suggest ideas for the future.

Privacy and data protection
Carmarthenshire County Council is the data controller for this survey. Lafan is supporting the Council with the administration and analysis of the survey and acts as a data processor on the Council’s behalf.
Your responses will be used to understand people’s experiences of the ten towns, identify emerging priorities and inform future discussions, plans and activities. The Council processes the main survey responses as part of its public task in supporting community and place-based planning.
Taking part is voluntary. You may skip any question marked as optional. Please avoid including names or other information that could identify you or another person in your written answers unless this is necessary. Your responses will be stored securely in Microsoft Forms. Access to the detailed responses will be limited to authorised members of Carmarthenshire County Council and Lafan. Contact-information fields will be excluded from the working dataset used for analysis wherever practicable. Findings will be reported in a combined or anonymised form, and published reports will not identify individual respondents without their explicit permission.
Optional contact details
At the end of the survey, you may choose to provide your email address. This is entirely optional, and you can submit your survey without providing it. Because the email question forms part of the same Microsoft Form, your email address will remain within the same response record and can therefore be technically linked to your survey answers. It will only be used to contact you about the next stage of the Ten Towns project for the town or towns you select. It will not be used for unrelated marketing.
Providing contact details is based on your consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting the Council. Choosing not to provide contact details will not affect how your main survey response is considered.
The information will only be retained for as long as it is required for the Ten Towns project and in accordance with the Council’s approved retention arrangements.
