Lafan: adding value to education

With the Curriculum in Wales being developed in schools throughout Wales, Lafan has worked with schools and clients to support the journey.

Lafan is aware of the opportunities and challenges that come hand in hand when developing a new Curriculum and is ready to add value and bring partners together to ensure first class education for pupils in Wales.

There is no doubt that we are extremely lucky in our landscape, our language and our culture. However, the messages that are shared with us on the ground and in classrooms are that many of our learners do not feel that these ‘belong’ to them.

“The National Parks are for visitors…”

In the same way, many feel that there are no economic opportunities and quality jobs for them in our communities.

“There are no quality work opportunities in my area…”

We are passionate about trying to challenge such concepts and believe in bringing sectors together to work together in order to do this.

It’s great to collaborate with Wales’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our National Parks and the Wildlife Trust to share and develop resources that highlight how extraordinary our country’s landscape, and the species that live here truly are.

Following recent visits to the sustainability hub at Tŷ Gwyrddfai in Penygroes and the CIST Centre, Llangefni, it was eye-opening to see the innovation and developments in the field of green technology. Ensuring that our learners are aware of the developments, and future jobs in the field is key to highlighting possible career opportunities.

As tenants at M-SParc, Gaerwen, we are extremely fortunate to have the privilege of meeting individuals and companies who innovate in the field of rural technology, research and science. BUT, how can we highlight these quality jobs and opportunities for learners from all walks of life throughout our country?

How can we celebrate the opportunities and support our learners to feel that they DO belong?

As a team, Lafan has collaborated with schools and clients to “make it happen”. Our consultants speak from experience and understand that there are challenges and opportunities that require effective critical thinking and the design of bespoke interventions – there is no such thing as a single answer when it comes to creating an effective Curriculum.

If you would like to share your passion for your field with others – but are unsure how to go about it – get in touch. Happy to have a chat over ‘paned’,* screen or phone anytime….

*Over a cup of tea (and cake) being first choice, of course!
